Description: Rare antique victorian French pink cotton bodice with lace trim. This bodice is from the French department store Les Grands Magasins du Louvre in Paris. The building was originally built to be a hotel in 1855, becoming a department store in 1887. The store closed in 1974 and has been converted into an antique mall. The bodice is made of a baby pink cotton fabric with a subtle grid pattern. There is a pleated pink silk panel around the waist and gathered pink silk ribbon around the neckline and cuffs. There is also a cream colored lace trim around the neckline and cuffs. The neckline features a large silk bow in the front. The sleeves are gathered at the shoulder, creating a puff sleeve. The bodice is gathered in the front, creating a blousy look. The bodice is quite structured with boning down the front, sides, and back. There are hook and eye closures down the back. There is a ribbon around the inside of the waist that says "Grands Magasins du Louvre Costumes." This bodice is sold as is. The silk is shredding. There are holes throughout the fabric.
