Description: This is a very nice collection of three antique Groton School sterling charms belonging to Alfred Coster Schermerhorn. He attended Groton from 1914 to 1916, was on the football team, and was an editor of the school magazine, The Grotonian. He was a classmate of president Theodore Roosevelt’s son, Quinton. From a very wealthy family, he was a stock broker and an executive at a brokerage firm. He later served as a Lt. Colonel in the Army Air Corps during World War II. The football is unmarked sterling with red enamel "GS" for Groton School and "14", I assume for the year. The "S.M.O." below that in blue I am unsure what that refers too. It is engraved A.C. Schermerhorn and 1914. The "The Grotonian" charm is engraved 1915-16 and is marked sterling and the maker, N.G.W. & S. It is also engraved A.Coster Schermerhorn The cap is engraved "VA" on the front and on the reversed marked Sterling and the makers named, Ford Co. It is engraved A.C. Schermerhorn. This collection is very unusual, and in great condition. Please look over photos, and let me know of any questions. Shipped via FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx Ground, or UPS Ground.
