Crafted from 925 Sterling Silver it measures 8.3 x 14.3 x 0.8cm with a weight of 235.4.g (7.5 ounces). There is a Rose Gold engraving plate to the front which has been engraved, but this could possibly be polished out by a local jeweller should you wish to have this done at a later date. Similarly, inside there is a personal inscription which again could possibly be removed with the the correct equipment. Opening the case reveals the hallmark that shows the makers mark D & F (Deakin & Francis Ltd, once located at Regent Place, Birmingham), the anchor mark of Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant confirming the fineness of the metal, and the date letter 'O' for the year 1938. The name of the original retailers, Boodle & Dunthorne Liverpool is engraved on the inside edge of the case.The hinges and clasp are all in good condition as is the outside, only displaying general wear commensurate with use and age.
