Description: FOR SALE: Hammond organ with Leslie rotating speaker cabinet This instrument is a Hammond model BC organ, manufactured at the Hammond factory in Chicago in 1938*. Other than understandable age-related wood finish cosmetics, this organ and speaker cabinet operate flawlessly and produce the classic Hammond sound that no Nord or electronic keyboard can recreate. With no broken, sticky or 'bad' keys, the instrument in fact has several upgrades that add to its value. The Hammond model 'BC' refers to a model 'B' that also contains a (factory upgrade) mechanical internal chorus module, hence the 'C' designation. See nameplate serial number photo. Instead of the rotation speed toggle switch for the Leslie speaker being mounted below the lower keyboard of the organ at the left, speaker rotation speed is now hands-free with conversion of the toggle to a simple one-push footswitch. Lastly, instead of the two Leslie speaker rotation speeds being 'no rotation' and 'slow rotation,' it has been converted to 'slow rotation' (40rpm) and 'fast rotation' (340rpm) for a more dramatic chorus sound. The instrument was not manufactured with a foot-operated bass pedal keyboard, but it still features a volume control foot pedal underneath. The Leslie speaker is a model 21H cabinet that contains a (rebuilt) model 122 amplifier (40-watt tube amp), certified by the Chicago-area electronics service center Deltronics, Ltd. The Leslie model 122 is the top-of-the-line that was manufactured for use with the Hammond A100, B2, B3, BC, C2 and C3 organs. The internal speaker elements are 'stock' and work perfectly: bass speaker is a 15" Utah woofer, crossed-over at 800hz with a Jensen high frequency V-21 horn driver. Purchaser must make arrangements for transportation, including moving the instrument up one flight of stairs from a lower-level studio in the Chicago western suburbs.
