Description: For bid is a pencil-signed, original circa 1932 etching by listed German-American artist Ernest David Roth (1879-1964) titled, "Washington at Pohick Church." Signed in pencil to the lower border of the etching. This historic church is in Lorton, Virginia. The etching depicts a small gathering of 18th Century men and women approaching the entrance to the church building, with a carriage visible at the left edge of the illustration near a large tree. The men and women are talking in groups and future United States President George Washington is among them. This etching was produced in conjuction with the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth, 1732-1932. It's printed on a large piece of high quality paper. Artist Ernerst David Roth has signed just below the plate, right of center, in pencil: "Ernest D. Roth." Signature is very small. Print is in outstanding condition. There is some kind of dark stain to the lower edge of the paper from some unknown source. extends from the lower left corner to the righ but doesn't reach the right edge of the paper. Less than a 1/2 inch tall, or less. See images. It almost looks like a shadow. Here are measurements: Plate is 10" x 13 7/8 inches; Sheet of paper is 19.5" by 14 3/4 inches, approximately.
