Description: St ColumbanusSingle Decade Rosary This "pocket" rosary has a 1" gold-toned centerpiece with a color picture of St Columbanus on the front and a textured back. The gold-toned St Benedict crucifix is 1-1/2" tall. The centerpiece was made in France; the crucifix in Italy; and the chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me in the USA. The 8 mm beads are all smooth, round, genuine, natural semi-precious gemstones. The 13 Hail Mary beads are Mahogany Obsidian, a reddish brown stone with black markings. He was very well educated and devoted to the Church and its teachings, arguing against various heresies. He wrote a rule for monks, poetry and other works. He was known as a miracle worker - multiplying bread and ale for his monks, curing the sick and the blind. He had an affinity for animals - when he walked in the woods birds would come to him and squirrels snuggle in the folds of his cloak, and once he tamed a bear and yoked it to his plow. He is the patron saint of motorcyclists although I have no idea why, except perhaps because he was headstrong and fearless! The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion.
