Description: Hanna Barbera: Top Cat + Friends Original Painting for Book Cover Painting and book included This original artwork was for Western Book Publishing. Western produced coloring books and little golden books (Gold Key) as well as other Hanna Barbera related items like the Top Cat Annual that I am featuring. Western's artwork was sold at auction in the 1990s when the company was being sold off and some of these pieces hit the market. The piece I am selling was made for the cover of the 1967 Top Cat Annual book (included with the sale). Although Hanna Barbera did the paintings in house, they would use studio artists as freelancers, so it was probably done by someone at Hanna Barbera. I was told by reputable sources (VAN EATON GALLERIES and others) that the original Top Cat cover art for books were done by Hawley Pratt or Al White and they did not sign the work. Review the up close photos with the 3-D paint imagery. Let me know if you need additional photos. Book has slight damage on the bottom of the spine and two pages with light pencil marks, see last two photos Top Cat Annual Cover Illustration Original Art (Hanna-Barbera/World Distributors, 1966).
