Description: This Harmon Kardon A300 Tube Stereo Amplifier was purchased by friends of my parents at EJ Korvette in or around the New York City Metropolitan area in the early 1960s. It is a Tube Stereo Amplifier Unit that includes switchable inputs, balance, Stereo to Mono blend, and EQ controls. It is a Harmon Kardon brand that was manufactured by Harmon Kardon for sale at EJ Korvette, which was an upscale department store of that era. It was non-functional with a broken 6V6 power tube when I got it. Here are the repairs I made: Replaced all electrolytic capacitors and Capacitor cansReplaced one 6V6 power tube that was burned outReplaced some other preamp tubesInstalled a grounded 3-prong power cordReplaced the solid state rectifier diodesReplaced signal capacitorsReplaced various resistorsReplaced some wiring with solid core teflon wireReplaced ganged Volume potentiometer with new, correct tapped POTReplaced ganged Balance potentiometerCleaned and lubricated all POTS and switchesRepaired (with epoxy) broken RCA input jack panelI have enjoyed working on this unit and using to lisen to music. It really warms up the sound of CD and mp3 recordings, and streaming. I made a video of me playing a CD through it and adjusting the controls. Sounds great! I am selling this as is without a cabinet - if you are a woodworker I'm sure you can make something beautiful! As with any tube gear of this age it will require regular maintenance to keep sounding it's best. It really is a great sounding unit. It will make a very cool addition to your vintage audio listening room. Enjoy!!!
