I will try and list a variety of pieces each week and hopefully you will find items of interest to you. Description:"Frog Under Leaf" was carved in 1989. Martin Perry started carving reproductions of Japanese netsukes. With the netsuke reproduction, a mold was made from the original carving. Martin tinted and hand painted each piece, and sold his creations in flea markets and nearby shops. In October 1990, Studio Ann Carleton (SAC) approached Martin and wanted to finish and market his pieces, so he sold them white bodied castings. These early pieces are museum quality, showing Martin’s early affinity toward fine art and exceptional mold making, casting and finishing. The netsukes were discontinued by SAC and stored away. When they resurfaced in the U.K., British Faire acquired them and sold them under The Country Set label. Very few pieces exist. "Frog Under Leaf" features a frog resting on a leaf.
