The composition depicts a solitary female figure seated in a posh space. The artist was inspired by city life in Paris and New York so this could be an apartment or city studio space. Sunlight from the window illuminates the dark space – a lovely evocation of light and shadow. McCormick takes inspiration from the American Realist painters at the turn of the 20th century such as Edward Hopper, John Sloan, and George Bellows. From a private collection in Metro Detroit who acquired the painting from DuMouchelle’s Auction House in Detroit. Dimensions: 26.75”h x 32.5”w x 3”d (framed). In very good vintage condition.
