Henry Emmett Manush (1901-1971) played in Major League Baseball for 17 seasons. He played for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox, Brooklyn Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Beginning his career in 1920 on the Detroit Tigers he batted .334 and played with baseball great Ty Cobb. In 1926 he led the American league with a batting average of .378, finishing second to Babe Ruth in slugging percentage and on base slugging percentage (Manush had a .985). After the Tigers he was traded around the league several times but continued as a powerful force at the plate. He ended his career with a career batting average of .330 with 2,524 hits, 110 home runs and 1,183 runs batted in. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964.
