US edition of Henry Beasley's comprehensive list of medical formulas, for the use of chemists and druggists.at least, its the US edition that came out after 6 English editions.As a later edition, he added quite a few "new" medicines to the original publication.Interestingly, as opposed to just melding the new formulas in, alphabetically, with the original content, this just has an extra 80 or so pages tacked on the back, in a second alphabetic list. kind of lazy, but whatever. it is still extra content.The book also includes advertisements at front of Beasley's other works, as well as a bibliography/refence of sorts in the front. Now, i really, REALLY hope i don't need to explain this, but just in case: NEVER USE THE FORMULAS IN THIS BOOK. Science has come a long way in the last 160 years, so don't think this book's suggestions of using arsenic to treat herpes, or deadly nightshade for enemas, is going to help you more than modern medical science. or at all. just go to a doctor. THE SPECS: This book is 8" tall, 5.25" wide, and 1.5" thick.526 pages total.Full leather cover, with black and gilt print on spine. THE CONDITION:See pics.Some general wear to cover, but cover, binding, and text block are all firmly attached. Pages are slightly yellowed, and some have the upper corner squished a bit, but for the most part the pages look great for their age.Inside of front has reference info from several old bookstores that each had this in their possession at some point.First page has a previous owner's name, T.H. Mayer or Mayor, i think.Someone wrote the name of the book on the top of the text block.Inside of back cover has some scribble in pencil, though i'm not sure what it means.I oiled and waxed this maybe...4 or 5 years ago?
