Description: Maker: Hungary's flagship china maker Herend produced this delightful handmade hand painted lobster figurine. Located in the ancient city of the same name, the factory has been producing exquisite and highly desirable luxury china since 1826. Design: Signed on the underside by the artist Janó Janló, the turquoise lobster is in the company's classic fishnet pattern. It's accented in 24k gold. The pattern was created in 1858 when the fish scale design on a Chinese plate inspired a Herend artist to decorate a rooster figurine in a similar way, mimicking feathers. The pattern has been coveted by collectors ever since. Marks and age: A modern blue Herend maker's mark and the inscribed number 15587 are on the underside. The figurine was signed by the artist on May 11, 2010. Size: It's 7 inches long, about 4 3/4 inches wide and about 2 1/4 inches tall. It weighs 12.3 ounces. Condition: It's in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, discoloration, repairs, crazing or wear. The gold accents are completely intact.
