Description: Pictured is an early salt glazed stoneware blue decorated butter crock offered for sale. The storage dairy crock is stenciled in blue "HICKORY GROVE FARM -- CRYSTAL CREAMERY -- THEO. G. MOOT". It measures 5 1/5" in height, 6 7/8" in diameter, & dates from 1870 - 1895. There is a faint thru hairline at the rim measuring 4" on the interior side & 2" on the exterior side. Both are difficult to see without bright light & the right angle. No nicks, no repairs. Note: The two streaks at the base are inmanufacture. I was unable to picture the interior side line due to the dark glaze.
