Description: High Quality 3/8" Ferrocerium Rod with High Speed Steel (HSS) Striker (3) sets mounted on Natural Driftwood Handles, (1) set mounted on Southern Red Oak handles. Rod and Striker are connected with 325 paracord lanyard. These are high quality ferro rods paired with High Speed Steel strikers. The natural hardwood handles are hand shaped, sized and finished to fit comfortably in your hand. Wooden handles are silky smooth, coated with 6 coats of Tung Oil and hand rubbed to a beautiful satin finish. This combination is large enough to be truly useful, but small enough to carry in a backpack or a pocket. These sets are completely hand made, so no two are exactly alike. These are high quality ferro rods and high speed steel strikers. The rods are 3/8" in diameter and 3.5 to 4" long. Total length of the ferro rod and handle is about 7 to 7.5". The strikers are made from 2mm x 14mm high speed steel. The handles are around 2 to 2.5" long, with the striker blade being around 1.5" long. Total length of 3 to 3.5". The strikers have 6 sharp edges and will scrape shavings from a tender source, such as fatwood, or from the rod itself to quickly ignite a fire. Rod and Striker are connected by a 325 paracord lanyard. Sets average around 2.5 oz (71g) weight. This combination of Ferro Rod and HSS Striker easily throws SHOWERS of 5500* sparks to quickly ignite a tender source, no matter the weather or elevation. Works in the wet, when other sources fail.
