It places you in command of the armies and gives you the chance ot change history. Actually, Italian Campaign is three games-in-one: the "Campaign Game" (the entire Sicilian and Italian campaign, July 1943-April 1945), the "Winter Line Mini-Game" (the first part of the allied conquest of Italy, July 1943-April 1944) and the "Gothic Line Mini-Game (the final phase of the war in Italy, May 1944-April 1945). The following rules are those which you will use to play the Campaign Game. Once you understand these rules, you can easily adjust to the mini-games which are only slightly different.
