In addition, spine back strips with gold gilt text and decorations are in excellent condition, corners are all sharp with no wear or fading (except Vol VIII). The spines are firm with no slanting and no cracking to the end papers. Text blocks are solid with all pages firmly attached with blue on the top edge, deckled pages to front of block, rough cut to bottom. Slight age tanning throughout. Interior pages are in excellent condition with no creases, tears, or previous owner marks. Dustjacket condition in detailed descriptions but all match the set of books even if different copyright dates. Each volume has a frontispiece in black & white of associated military officer (except VIII) and are illustrated with color and black & white maps, diagrams, and black & white photographs. Volumes with large foldout maps at rear of books have not been opened and are in excellent condition (except Vol XI and XIV). Each volume dimensions: H – 8-3/4” W – 6”.
