Several hypotheses are put forth as to the purpose of the figures. I went to the internet and could find nothing more current though a scientist proved a hot air balloon could have been built with materials available to the Nazca people.He and his students built the balloon and flew. I wonder if the tribe would have spent that much time and used that many resources when surviving in a desert was difficult enough.The figures remain a mystery, and may always be so. This book taught me more than I previously knew about them and led me to hope that the preservation will FINALLY be taken seriously. They are too beautiful to be lost, even for a minute.
