FROM THE INTERNET: Philbert (1966- ) has been an active carver since 1984. He lives on Hotevilla (Third Mesa). Philbert carves in the Old Style or "New Traditional Kachinas." He began carving when he was seventeen-years-old. He watched the elders and is primarily self-taught. Philbert's favorite subjects to carve are the badger and frogs. Philbert carves in a style that makes the elders remember their childhood. Philbert is honored for helping other Hopi men get started carving Katsina dolls. He helps them develop techniques and refine their personal styles. Bendrew Atokuku and Kevin Masawiestewa credit him as their main teacher. We love to combine shipping.
