It was founded in Chicago the 1890s and has members throughout the United States. Founded more than 100 years ago, the Independent Order of Vikings is a nonprofit, lodge-based fraternal organization with members across the United States. The group provides insurance benefits, as well as organizing events celebrating Swedish traditions and culture. These activities have included languages classes on Scandinavian languages as well as song and dance programs for traditional Scandinavian music and dance. Lodges have also sponsored bowling and golfing events. Cabinet Card photograph measures 4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches and is in very good condition with just a bend at bottom not affecting the photo.
