Description: Bright pink vegetation, alternating with deep red to violet and yellow foliage, the color changes like the original and simple handling - that's my authentic, digital replica of Aerochrome. An older CCD camera, a special built-in IR filter and 1 additional filter make it possible. PRICE REDUCED BECAUSE OF MISSING CHARGER! --- What's in it? A glass filter is installed inside the camera in front of the sensor that passes the entire visible spectrum as well as a small part of the infrared IR spectrum. An additional (removable) foil filter by Lee for the back of the lens results in authentic Aerochrome imagery. You can EASILY cut the foil filter to size and attach it with double-sided tape at the rear end of any lens... Optically, they are at least as good as glass and well protected between lens and infrared camera body. --- So, what you get:Nikon D70 Special Full spectrum (visible + IR)1 Lee filter for authentic Aerochrome-like imageryBatteryNO Charger (look for EN-EL3 charger, they're very cheap) Shutter count: ca. 10'000 Great condition. No sticky parts, very well kept... --- Q&A | PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY --- Why buy this? It's an IR conversion that you don't really get anywhere else. The filter combination allows for AN AUTHENTIC DIGITAL AEROCHROME WITH ALL THE HALLMARKS including all color changes (for example, red cars become yellow etc). Please take a look at the gallery. --- Why buy this in winter when it's always cloudy? It is a bad credo that IR “only” or best works well in bright sunlight and in summer. It is my “rich false color IR” conversion that is perfect for the changing seasons and winter when some plants are in bloom and others are not. Take a look at the first 3 pictures in the gallery. They were taken in December on a cloudy day. --- But why an old CCD camera? CCD sensors can handle false color IR much better than most CMOS. CMOS often have strange color edges and blurring problems. The differences of images with this filter combination between a CMOS and a CCD are striking. 6MP is more than enough for most uses - don't believe the Megapixel Myth. And just as an aside, high ISO gives spectacular film-like grain with the D70. --- Why can't I just buy a glass filter for my camera? Firstly, there exists no filter that has the necessary transmission curve. Secondly, I cannot guarantee that the sensor of your camera will react in the same way to the incidence of light/IR and produce the same image. As already mentioned, there are already striking differences between CMOS and CCD Nikons. This way I can guarantee that your results will be the same as in the sample images in the gallery. --- And which lens? You can actually use any lens, except perhaps extreme wide angles. I've never had any problems attaching (and removing) the gel filter. And not with hotspots either. The inexpensive (but great!) standard lens 18-55mm is also particularly suitable. --- What do I have to set on the camera? What do I have to do in "post"? 1. Attach the filter. 2. Always shoot in RAW (NEF) 3. Do a custom white balance. Select “PRE” in the White Balance options, then “Measure” and point the camera at a neutral surface. Don't worry if it doesn't work. Optimal Kelvin is around 2200 K so you can easily do this in post-processing. 4. Use Photoshop or RawTherapee (free and great). Select white balance on neutral (like asphalt). It should be around 2200 Kelvin. Select the channel mixer and just change the values R (0/0/100) G (100/0/0) and B (0/100/0). Done! --- And what else can I do with it? Actually everything, as the IR transmission is still high. It's a quasi-full-spectrum infrared camera that basically opens up all the possibilities of IR photography, including the classic one with white trees. You need additional filters. But here's a secret: Anything you can buy for hundreds of dollars from filter suppliers, whether it's “Super Color”, “Hyper Color”, "Candy Chrome", green, red or blue filters, you can get for a few bucks with Lee Filters (I'm not sponsored by them, by the way). --- Can you also make “Blue Trees” with it? Yes, the internal filter is the same. But this style requires an additional external glass filter and different Lee filter. The names of these filters are supplied if required, so they can be purchased separately. --- Why should I buy from you? Who are you? I have a good 10 years of experience with infrared photography. I live in Switzerland, where I explore the mountains with my cameras and blog about this exciting hobby. I have been looking for good digital alternatives to Aerochrome for years and have developed the Blue Trees infrared style. Many of these developments came out of a disappointment with the bigger providers of IR conversions / cameras who always offer the same, uninspiring and overpriced stuff. --- Do you also convert Canon or Fuji cameras? No, a decisive factor is the old Nikon CCD sensor, which is perfectly suited for false color IR. It simply works. Nikon is also far less prone to hotspot lenses and other artifacts. I will probably only ever use and convert Nikons. Sorry! But I think the prices are so fair that a purchase could be worthwhile even for a non-Nikon user. And if required, I will make an offer with lens. Just send me a message... --- Not exactly what you're looking for? Are you looking for a similar infrared camera, but not exactly this one? Maybe a different filter? Do you need Live-view and / or video? Check out my other listings and / or please send me a message to get exactly what you want. --- Shipping from Switzerland, with tracking of course. Sorry, it's a bit expensive. But I try to make my offers as favorable and fair as possible. That's it. Have fun bidding. I will be happy to answer any questions.
