Description: Antique Original English Old Master drawing Neapolitan Sailors, circa 1820 Antique Original English Old Master ink drawing of two Neapolitan Sailors, titled "Napolitan Sailors" This is a finely rendered drawing in what is now brown ink (oxidized due to age) of two Neopolitan Sailors, most likely from the first quarter of the 19th century. They are large, rough looking men, barefoot, much like the painting titled "Neopolitan Fisherman" from 1829 by Raffaele Carelli. This is most certainly an English drawing of the early 19th century, as it is titled in english, and was probably drawn by someone on a visit to Italy, possibly a grand tour type of visit. This drawing is on fine paper with a watermark. Provenance: Purchased at english auction house. Lot was included with several other 19th century drawings. Measurements: 4 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches Condition: Very good condition. Commensurate with age and use. Minor stains and creases and fading. Water mark is visible in photos when held to light.
