Description: I obtained these (auctioning 2) from the estate of Mary H. Simister’s daughter ( Thelma Simister Thomas) Mrs. Thomas grew up in Warren RI and married a physician from Auburn AL who practiced in Auburn Alabama for many years -as well as his father and several of their children. Mrs. Thomas was born around 1920. From the information on the back of this watercolor, I obtained this - the Rev. Marlin D. Farnum was a missionary in Japan. And was appointed by the American Baptist Foreign Missionary Society in 1927 and served there until 1941. I have an 8 page article about Rev. Farnum I will include with shipping. I believe these watercolors date to this time period. I have looked at these paintings with a lope and feel confident they are original watercolors. SIZE: actual picture is 7.5” wide x 2” tall. FRAME: 12.5” x 4.75” CONDITION: This particular matting has foxing areas. See pictures. I am no expert at art and especially Asian art. Please ask questions if you have any and I will do my best to answer.
