Description: Classic literature set of 14 titles from The International Collectors Library.See photos for titles. "The International Collectors Library" was a publishing program dedicated to the preservation of the immortal masterworks of the past and the significant books of our time… the great classics of fiction, history, biography, poetry, drama, travel, and adventure." These were published from the late 1940’s through the late 1980’s. Books followed the 8-1/2″ x 5-3/4″ book size format. The binding design was adapted based on old “Golden Age of Bookmaking” bindings and looked like leather-bound copies but are faux leather. The bindings were embossed with gold embellishments, and some copies have gilt edges (thin layer of gold leaf) applied. A sewn in satin ribbon marker was also added in most books. (One is frayed) Some editions came with loose-leaf inserts that described the book club, the bindings and design styles, and a story synopsis of the book-in-hand. (7 have the insert, 7 don't) These books are in good used condition but do have some flaws including foxing on endpapers and pages edges, visible when books are closed. The gold gilt on spines varies from dark gold to almost silver. One book has black marker on the inside cover and across the top edge, visible when book is closed. One has a book plate pasted on the inside back cover.
