Description: International Committee of the Red Cross: Medal of the International Prisoners of War Agency 1914. Rare silver and enamel medal awarded to members International Prisoners of War Agency 1914-1919. At the end of August 1914, the International Prisoners of War Agency was created in Geneva which, in liaison with the National Committees, was responsible for centralizing all information concerning POW’s (establishment of a file per prisoner with classification by nationality). This agency ceased its activities in December 1919, once the repatriation of the prisoners had taken place (see Orders, decorations et medailles 1914-1918 website; www.medailles1914-1918.fr). The medal is in extremely fine condition, on the original embroidered ribbon; hallmarked for silver and Swiss maker-marked “Heguenin.” Authenticity guaranteed; 14-day return privilege (30 days overseas), excluding postage, provided item is returned in same condition when sold.
