Description: This is a custom 12" figure commemorating a real American outlaw and gunman of the Old West, Ned Huddleston also known as Isom Dart. Huddleston was born in Arkansas into slavery in 1849. He traveled with his owner (a Confederate officer) into Texas during the Civil War in 1861. After the Civil War ended Huddleston was given his freedom. He found work at a rodeo and was a stunt rider. Huddleston soon had a reputation as a rider, roper, bronco-buster, and master horseman. Huddleston was on both sides of the law. For awhile he worked with a young Mexican bandit stealing horses in Mexico and selling them in Texas. Huddleston later joined a cattle drive heading to the Colorado/Wyoming area around 1871. Huddleston also found a little success mining gold and silver. He later claimed his partner cheated him out of his earnings. Ned had a tumultuous love affair with a Shoshone Indian woman. After that Huddleston was part of the Tip Gault Gang. The gang worked primarily southeast Wyoming rustling cattle and horses. After a close call with death Ned Huddleston decided to go further West and become an honest hard working man. He changed his name to Isom Dart. Dart made his living as a bronco buster. Dart returned to Brown’s Hole around 1890 and established his own ranch. The local cattlemen suspected he had built up his cattle herd from cattle he’d rustled from their ranches. The ranchers hired notorious range detective, Tom Horn to look into the matter. Horn ambushed and killed Isom Dart on October 3, 1900 near Brown's Hole. Public opinion was and still is divided about Dart's guilt. Some folks believed Dart was killed by ranchers who wanted his land and cattle. They viewed Dart as a good-hearted person, a talented horseman and a top bronc buster. Others in the community believed Dart never really got over his rustling life and was guilty. He was truly a colorful character of the old west. Figure designed mainly for display purposes for the wild west fan. This would make a nice addition to any collection. stand included. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!
