Description: J. H. Stouffer Porcelain Salt & Pepper Shaker Set Etched Gold Roses & Daisies For consideration is this vintage gold colored salt and pepper shaker set by J. H. Stouffer. These are etched in a rose and daisy pattern from the waist up. The waist down and the tops are unadorned. On the Replacements website this pattern is named SFR1. This set was made between 1938 and 1946 and measure 3 inches tall, the base measures 1 1/8 inches in diameter and each shaker has 3 holes. There are no stoppers; originally the stoppers were cork; one was completely missing and one had a partial cork inside which was removed. The bases are stamped in black ink “Stouffer” and they are in excellent vintage condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or discoloration noted. Buyer will receive FREE shipping. Thank you for looking! NOTE: Jacob H. Stouffer first appeared in Chicago (Illinois), in 1892. In 1902 he went into business for himself as the J. H. Stouffer Co., China and Glass Wholesalers. In 1905 he opened his first china decorating studio at 3000 Lake Park Avenue in Chicago. Stouffer's hand-painted china appears to have spanned approximately 15 or 20 years, from 1905 to 1920-25, during which time the company employed some of the best decorators in the business. Jacob died at age 46 in 1912 and his wife Marietta (Mary D. Stouffer) became president, followed by Finlay Drummond in 1915. The company relocated to several Chicago addresses as it continued in business throughout the Great Depression and World War II, and finally ceased operations in 1952.
