SIGNED. 556pp. Quarto [30 cm] Dark brown leather with raised bands, a gilt stamped title on the spine, a gold vignette on the front board, and embossed decorative borders on the covers. Beveled edges. All edges gilt. Original owner's name stamped in gilt on the front board. The extremities are rubbed, and the underlying boards are exposed at the top fore edge corners of the covers. The endpapers are soiled, and the plates are occasionally offset. There are multiple closed tears along the edges of the panoramic view at the folds, with the longest tear measuring 2" long. The plate at p. 341 has a small loss from the inside border, followed by a 1 1/2" closed tear in the illustration. Complete, all colored plates, sheets and maps are present. Odd volume. Very good. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper.
