From Howes B-906: "many later reprints [all omitting the chapter on the Tweed Ring]"...and, "Remains the most authoritative study of American political and social institutions." (This edition contains a chapter, "The Tweed Ring in New York City" by Frank Goodnow (v. 3, pages 173-198), that was suppressed in later editions.)
