Description: This vintage Japanese basket is a rare find, hand-woven from bamboo in a beautiful brown color with grayish wash (maybe a hint of blue). The basket features a stunning ornate wave pattern and is perfect for use in the traditional Japanese art of ikebana flower arrangement, or other decorative use in the modern home. The basket's maker is unknown, but it is believed to be crafted by a skilled Japanese artist. It measure approximately 13" from base to top of basket handle. The basket itself is approximately 7.75" tall, 3.5" opening, 5.75" at the base. The width of the basket extends a little beyond the base and would be wider then the base but it is hard to measure Overall the basket is in very good condition. There are a couple of spots where the bamboo has a small chip or crack on the edge of a strip. There are several very small white spots which could have come from the painting on the basket. It is vintage and there is some minor dust inside the basket which is hard to get 100 percent out. The handle is in very good condition. Inside the basket you can see several ends of the bamboo where it ended in the weaving process and are not broken. As seen in pictures the handle has a slight lean but is secured tightly. This is highlighted in pictures. I do my best to highlight condition concerns. Please look closely at pictures for details. The item comes from a smoke free home where a cat lives.
