An exotic palm species where it grows in light, humid seasonal tropical lowland rainforest below 1200 m elevation. Monkey Tail Palm forms a slender trunk to about 12 ft. tall, topped by a orange crownshaft and a spreading crown of elegantly arching leaves with about 40 broad leaves. It is very fast growing and a very rewarding palm for the humid tropics. This tall attractive solitary palm species can reach a height of up to 15 ft. It has a slender, smooth, closely ringed trunk with a orange crown splashed with green and black, with gracefully arching, dark green leaves. A long crownshaft; and arching leaves with drooping segments with tips that appear jagged and torn. It is suitable for moist sub-tropical and tropical climates. Sunny, moist, but well drained position, in the tropics or sub-tropics. Prefers shade as a youngster, but grows into full sun.
