The pin was for the Democratic Presidential Candidate, Jimmy Carter. He was the incumbent US President. The background story is :President Carter stated to a group of Congressmen at a White House dinner in June, 1979: “I’ll Whip His Ass” when Carter was asked what would happen if Senator Edward M. Kennedy ran against him in the upcoming election. I could not find a Maker's Mark on the button. Actual item is shown in eBay pics.
