She had top billing in RKO's drama On the Loose (1951), and second billing to Esther Williams in the MGM musical comedy, Skirts Ahoy! (1952). She was Audie Murphy's leading lady in Column South (1953) and No Name on the Bullet (1959). She also appeared in numerous television shows. Joan Crawford was her Godmother (named after her), and Joan Evans was married in Joan Crawford's home. In the 1950s, Evans wrote articles for Photoplay magazine.
