Description: The print offered here is a large lithograph after a drawing by the 19th century British caricaturist, John Doyle. The lithograph was made by A. Ducote (see lower right hand corner below the image) and was published by Thomas McLean (the publication attribution has been trimmed away but is readily found online). In the lower right corner, there is the upper part of a blindstamp that read "Subscriber's Copy". In the upper right corner, also mostly trimmed away, are the initials "HB" in a monogram that Doyle used to sign his prints. The image is of betting men (politicians) inspecting the horses at the Epsom races. There are some copies extant that have been hand colored; however, there are also other versions that are in black and white like this one. For an uncolored version, see the British National Portrait Gallery, NPG D41141. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions". For example, offered maps are of the period. Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
