Description: John Kelly was born in Scotland, in 1939 into a seafaring family. He immigrated to Canada as a young boy. His experience as a merchant mariner seaman sailing off the coasts of Canada and Alaska would later become the subject of his artwork. He advanced quickly to study art at the Art Center College of Design in Los angeles. He studied under & collaborated Lynton Kisteler to produce unique maritime works that now reside at the Smithsonian museum. Other famous series by Kelly include Cargo and Steamships Series and The Sea Odyssey Series. Kelly is a true renaissance man, Kelly today is widely respected and honored for his past and present as a painter/lithographer, multimedia lecturer and musician. He continues to be a worldwide lecturer and consultant at numerous universities and art centers. He has received awards from the mayor of Atlanta and San Francisco. He was presented with the coat of arms in Glasgow. Scotland for his work "Britain Revisited". A former winner of the Quensel Drawing award. He was named one of the top 100 artists in America by the American Artist Magazine and Best Artist of the Malibu Festival of Art in Malibu, CA. He also is a long time associate member of the New York Pastel Society. Currently, Kelly resides in Los Angeles, CA. This lithograph is titled "Boat Parade Signed 158/500 23 1/2 x 28 1/2in.
