In this story we are taken into the anguished heart of a community where the chances of breeding true are less than fifty per cent and where deviations are rooted out and destroyed as offences and abominations, "Blasphemies" and the handiwork of the Devil. The story is told by one of a small group of youngsters who can communicate with each other via telepathy. This unusual mutation would be considered a "blasphemy" they carefully conceal their abilities as all who are different must be banished to the dangerous ‘Fringes’ or killed. The book measures 7.3 inches x 5.25 inches and has 239 pages. The book is in good condition for a former vintage library book for its age, the blank front endpaper has been passed down, with number stamps to the title page and inside flap of the still pretty good original dust-jacket (not price-clipped) with tape residue marks and stains near the covers and front side rims (see photos) and is otherwise internally neat and uncreased save the odd grubby blemish.
