Jonny Quest - RARE - Two Production Animation Cels - 1964

Description: Jonny Quest burst onto the scene in 1964 on Friday nights on ABC TV and world of TV animation was never the same! Created by Hanna-Barbera Studios, it was the first time a more “adult-looking” cartoon was released. Designed by comic book artist Doug Wildey, kids got to see some of the most exciting characters, settings and vehicles ever to grace their TV screens. Up for bid are two (2) actual production animation cels from this groundbreaking series. The first is of Jonny Quest from Episode 2, Arctic Splashdown, (aired September 25, 1964). The cel is a large image of Jonny dressed in a bright orange hoodie. He is sitting in a snow bank and he’s angry that he is being held at gunpoint by some thugs. The cel measures 12.25” x 10.5,” while the actual image is a large 5.25” x 5.5”. The second cel is of the Quest’s dashing bodyguard Race Bannon. This cel is from Episode 5, Riddle of Gold, (aired October 16, 1964). The cel shows Race in the process of pulling down a map of India. The pull-down ring is clearly seen in his right hand. The cel measures 12.25” x 10.5,” while the image measures a nice 5” x 6”. I have included frame shots from the actual episode showing how they appeared in the actual episodes. Note: these cels DO NOT come with backgrounds and are NOT framed. Both of these cels were obtained in the 1990’s from a renowned animation gallery at the time called Gallery Lainzberg. They were known for their unique, high-end cels from Walt Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Chuck Jones, Ralph Bakshi and other animation studios of the time. Included with this sale is the folder which has the certificate of authenticity and seal from the gallery. Both of these cels are in excellent condition with no chipping and strong vibrant colors. This is amazing since these are over 60 years old! Fans of this series can truly own a piece of animation history.
