Description: DESCRIPTION:aboutA leading figure in the Brazilian music revolution of the 1960s, Jorge Ben Jor (he added the Jor to his name some years ago) is part of the pantheon of great Brazilian musicians. Reactivus Amor Est (Turba Philosophorum)--which translates as "Love Is Reactive (A Philosophical Disorder)"--is the first album of new material from Jor in several years (import or domestic). Singing in his warm but slightly nasal voice, Jor touches on love, philosophy, and even soccer ("O Nome Do Rei É Pelé" and "Tupinambás"), but fans who don't understand Portuguese will have to content themselves with the rich sound of the music. Generally falling within the Brazilian pop genre known as MPB, Reactivus pulses with a modern samba heartbeat where electronic and acoustic rhythms build a galloping groove as syncopated splashes of melodic keyboards and funky guitar fill things out. This is a welcome return that will satiate longtime fans; it should also pique the interests of David Byrne and Caetano Veloso followers as well. -- Tad HendricksonreviewThis is a fantastic record. But you're maybe asleep on it. You're coming over to this page, maybe you're one of those who think Jorge Ben, his greatest album is Africa Brasil from 30 years ago, you think that's the best he ever did, but still are somehow curious or intrigued by this new recording. You may have been listening to Brasilian music for two, five, even ten or more years, and read someplace that Africa Brasil was his peak. But no. This record is for those that know the second phase of greatness began with the release of A Bando Do Ze Pretinho in 1978. Africa Brasil was the culmination of his 63-76 phase..and then here comes "A Banda do Ze Pretinho", here comes "Salve Simpatia", here comes the majesty, the magnificence, of "Curimim Chamada Cunhanta Que Eu Vou Contar (Todo Dia Era Dia De Indio)"--check out Baby's version too--up through "Cowboy Jorge" from 23 and the songs he wrote for Gal on her O Sorriso.., the masterful humanity of Homo Sapiens--that's right you're a believer because you know and love those, you seen him perform live maybe, you're one that is embracing "Em Nagoya Eu Via Eriko" that he wrote for Seu Jorge, okay you're awake now..JORGE BEN JOR..Telecaster and percussions, not looking back, always here, looking great, feeling great, singing about "O Rei de Rosa Cruz" and "Tumpanibas", tangas and Bluemans, you know about the Brasilians, their ginga, their way, why they're always doin' it like nobody else, you're saying "Tudo Beleza" to Reactivus Amor Est (Turbo Philosphorum). You will love it here in 2008, where we all are..SALVE JORGE!!CONDITION:Disc, 16 page booklet, back art are all in great shape. Not a promo. Thanks so much, and enjoy!
