Description: This is a rare December 17th, 1953 "Playgoer" playbill (and original ticket stub) from the three-night, Pre-Broadway engagement of the JEAN ANOUILH play "MADEMOISELLE COLOMBE" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The production would open January 6th, 1954 at the Longacre Theatre in New York City and run for only 61 performances.) ..... The play starred JULIE HARRIS and EDNA BEST and featured ELI WALLACH, SAM JAFFE, HARRY BANNISTER, MIKHAIL RASUMNY, FRANK SILVERA and WILLIAM WINDOM ..... CREDITS: Book by JEAN ANOUILH adapted by LOUIS J. KRONENBERGER; Sets designed by BORIS ARONSON; Costumes designed by MOTLEY; Directed by HAROLD CLURMAN; Produced by ROBERT L. JOSEPH and JAY JULIEN ..... DETAILS: The 40 page playbill measures 6 1/2" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and bios of each of the leading actors, but no cast photos. Includes a loose ticket stub December 19th, 1953 performance as well as an insert with program corrections ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a crease in the ticket stub, several tiny edge tears to the playbill's cover and minor edge wear, this set is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
