Description: Kantronics Mini-Reader Morse Code CW & RTTY decoder for sale. RARE 1981 Palm sized vintage morse code/ascii reader devoder with a fantastic reputation for accuracy and ease of use. I have had this packed away in storage for decades since buying it new from Madison Electronics in Houston in 1981. I used this unit when I volunteered at the Musuem of Natural Science, also in Houston. I demonstrated morse code operation while I was in College at U of H to the general public on the weekends and this Kantronics Mini-Reader permitted the public to "see" what I was sending and what I was receiving over the air. It worked very well for my purposes. Once the exhibit was discontinued I ended up packing it away until now. I have fully bench tested the unit and checked all components to be within specification. The power supply wall wart is the same one that came with the unit when new. It is NOT a SMPS, but rather a linear supply. These are getting more and more rare. less efficient, but VERY quiet! Anyway, I was worried about the capacitor inside so I cracked the adapter open, pulled and fully bench tested the Capacitors to be perfect on my SENCORE. I was both very surprised and impressed. Just know that the rough look of the supply is because of that. It's in Excellent working condition, especially considering its age. I glued a new piece of velco on the removable stand, but I'm not sure how well it will hold. The new owner may need to try something else, like epoxy or hot glue if it comes loose again. It's a neat unit. Perfect for a portable FD or POTA operation if CW or RTTY isn't that great, it would help. If you search online, you'll find out what other think about this Mini-Reader. 73, de Kenny, NZ5i
