Description: A Very Good copy lacking the dustjacket. This is the 1929 First French edition of the Karl Blossfeldt book titled Urformen Der Kunst. It is complete with 120 plates, all of which are printed one to a page with blank verso. The interior pages are clean and free of soiling, staining, tears or markings with the exception of two stamps, one on the title page and one on page XV, the last page of the list of plates. The stamps are circular and measure approximately one inch in diameter. There are no stamps to the pages with photographic illustrations. I have photographed both pages with stamps as well as the front pastedown and front free endpaper because there is some slight soiling and signs of handling there. The plates are clean and bright and there is no foxing anywhere to the book. The green cloth binding is clean except at the base of the spine where there is some hint of white. Please see photos. The corners are not bumped and the spine ends show no signs of fraying, wear or any other signs of damage. The binding is solid but not tight and the book easily lays flat for viewing. As I understand it Urformen der Kunst was initially published (in a German edition only) in 1928 and a second, better printed edition was executed in 1929. It was with this printing that the first American and first French editions were created. Later editions or printings of this book had only 96 plates and were printed recto and verso. This printing is generally regarded as the highest quality printing of any of Blossfeldt's books. Please email with questions or concerns.
