KENNEDY ASSASSINATION - ORIGINAL ASSOCIATED PRESS TELETYPE REPORT DALLAS

Description: This is a remarkable original teletype report detailing The Kennedy Assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1963. I believe that it is an Associated Press teletype and is from the New York Times newsroom. Some of the highlights in this long piece are: Kennedy's body to be removed to Washington - Gov. Connally wounded in right chest - Presidential Press Secretary Malcolm Kilduff said Johnson was hit - (then) Johnson not hit - Kennedy has died - Kennedy 46 lived about 30 minutes after a sniper cut him down as his limo left Downtown Dallas, newsmen said that the shot hit him was fired about 12:30 P.M., Hospital management said he died approximately 1 P.M. of a bullet wound to the head - Soviet news agency Tass carried this as a "Flash", stating that Kennedy was killed by persons from among the extreme right wing elements - Mrs. Kennedy cried "Oh No" in horror and dispare after her husband was shot, she did not collaspe or give way to hysteria, when she entered the hospital she was covered in blood - Presidents parents learn of the shooting - Lt. Enrich Kaminski of the Secret Service Bureau said the assassins weapon appears to have been a "high powered Army or Japanese rifle of about .25 caliber. " The rifle has a scope - Dallas Inspector J.H. Sawyer said Police found the remains of fried chicken and paper on the 5th floor (Book Depository), apparently the person was there for a long time - A secret service agent and a police man were shot and killed today some distance away from the assassination - Dallas Motorcycle officers ranged around the cavalcade, took off across a field in the direction from which the murderer has apparently fled - Ironically Kennedy was shot to death in an area where there were relatively few spectators - After Presidents Kennedy's assassination today in Dallas, a white man in his mid 20's was arrested in the Riverside section of Fort Worth in the shooting of a Dallas policeman. The man who has black curly hair and who wore a red shirt, denied that he was connected with the assassination of the President. He was handcuffed and taken to the Fort Worth City Jail. The teletype goes on to tell of the happenings at the hospital ( the entrance would was at the front of the head) - Johnson comes into the Presidency....- arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald - This piece ends with details of President Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy greeting the gathered crowds and shaking hands. The teletype is in good condition, the paper is a little brittle from age. It has been unevenly folded accordian style. The single sheet of paper has a few minor tears at a couple of the folds. This piece measures 11 foot 3 inches long. It also comes with a receipt from Jay W. Coolbaugh - American autographs & historical manuscriptds of San Francisco.. The price in 1970 was $40.00. The teletype was in a brown paper envelope which is marked - Kennedy Assassination Newstape From N.Y. Times Newsroom. A rare and unique John F. Kennedy teletype and historical item.
