Description: Kenny Rogers - Jole Blon - 1959 SUPER RARE KEN-LEE LABEL - cajun early rock VG++ Kenny recorded this Cajun classic in 1958 after moving from Houston to New Orleans. He and his brother, Lelan, started their own record company, Ken-Lee. This was his first and only recording on this label and less than 1,000 copies were pressed. The Rogers' brothers heard the newly-released version of "Jole Blon" by Waylon Jennings and loved the tune. They thought they could outsell Waylon's version and in their update used saxophone instead of accordion. However, unlike Waylon, Kenny wasn't too good at phonetic French, and producer Cosmo Matanzas had to send out for "an authenic Cajun" to teach the Texas city boy the song, line by line, just off-mike. For you Kenny Rogers' fans, this rare copy is very seldom seen and a welcome addition to your collection. This is his only recording on this label.
