Description: A bit ago eBay began a new program to "increase the visibility" of seller's items for an additional %age of the items final selling price...that's on TOP of the regular 12.5% Transaction fees (postage also included). Sellers can end up paying TWICE the fees as before. The program is optional but NOT using it means that your items aren't advertised or "seen" as much and so can't compete with others. I've had $5 sales where combined Transaction & Promotional fees have been nearly $3 (over 50%!). That $2 left doesn't even cover what I needed to pay for the item originally in most cases not to mention boxes, bubble wrap, tape, ink, etc. It's particularly hard on "small-time" sellers for whom high volume sales aren't an option to make up for the loss per item. As such, I'm choosing not to use the Promotional program for most listings knowing that my items won't be 'advertised' by eBay.
