Description: I am selling the antique book titled Knickerbocker's History of New York - Complete Volumes I & II written by Washington Irving. The book was published by the Henry Altemus Company of Philadelphia. The book has dimensions of 6.5" x 4.25" x 3/4" and is undated. Based on antique book research I have done on the henryaltemus website, the book is from the Henry Altemus' Vademecum Series of books and was published in 1901. The Vademecum Series is a multivolume, multiauthored series of collectible books that was published between 1894 through 1926. The covers of the books, as well as the over 180 book titles published, changed from year to year. In the Vademecum Series, there were over 40 different covers that had different cover colors and different paste-on applique pictures. Perhaps the most interesting of the Vademecum books are the ones published between 1901-1907 during which time the books had 6 different cover colors and applique pictures based on paintings by European artists. This is one of those books. The book is in good condition with no stains, water damage, or mold and no torn or missing pages. The gold printing on the spine of the book is a bit faded. There is some staining on the applique picture on the cover. The book's binding is a little loose. But overall, it is in nice condition for being over 120 years old. The photos are of the actual book being sold. I offer both USPS Media Mail (cheapest) or USPS Ground Advantage (faster) shipping.
