A rare oil by Danish painter, Knud Ove Hilkier ( 1885-1953). A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work. Condition: Ready to hang. In good condition. No holes, tears or missing paint. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age. Knud Ove Hilkier ( 1885-1953) Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1844. Private pupil of S. Vermehren. Educated at the Royal art academy in 1901. Hilkier débuted at the Artists free exhibition in 1905 and worked under the influence of the emerging French modernism, that let him to experiment with lighter colors and greater freedom in the picturesque language. Hilkier worked and traveled in Paris and southern France as well as Italy from 1910-1920 and Spain in 1910 and 1932. His motifs were varied and did interiors, flowers, portraits as well as city views and seascapes done in a light French impressionist structure. He served as a Jury at the Royal Academy from 1933-1937. And received the Gold medallion in 1915 as well as the Academy award in 1916.
