Korean Artisian 1950's Laquered Deep Reddish Hue Mother-of-Pearl Inlaid Table

Description: Like a Snow Flake "No Two Are Ever Alike" Uniquely Individualistic "One of a Kind" Conversation piece. "Exquisitely Magnificent" AISIAN ARTS and CRAFTS Tea / Serving Table Republic of South Korea Circa 1950's The Korean art of Mother-of-Pearl Lacquer Ware is called Najeon-Chilgi. Unlike lacquer ware of many other nearby countries, Korean art lacquer itself does not usually play a major aesthetic role. Korean lacquer ware is dominated by exquisite hand-carved luminescent hand-placed Mother-of-Pearl patterns. With this in mind, up for auction is; This one of a kind, original, truly beautiful Korean handmade Mother-of-Pearl Inlaid Tea / Serving table. Only the second example of such high quality, of this great art form, that I have had the pleasure to come across during the last thirty or so years outside of private collections. Another example was a black lacquered extremely distressed utilitarian piece. Beautiful Luminous Iridescent Shaved Shell Design - Approximately 17-7/8" Diameter by 7-1/4" inch High Craftsmanship is 'second to none' on this outstanding example of Korean Art. This is of magnificent quality with individual hand cut designed shaved pearl shell artistry. Definitely not the modern day typical laser applique now machine painted stencil design. Definitely cannot be duplicated. Varying points on the table top are nearly two to three millimeters above the Rosewood canvas of this artist. The subtle design creates a fantastic natural partial 3D effect for the observer letting light bounce off in many directions that creates a vivid portrayal. No two views of the intricate tabletop designs are ever the same. The luminescence of the shaved shells create an imaginary movement which bring the butterflies and flowers to life. This is an extraordinary and exceptional "DISPLAY PIECE" piece Representing the older style of this generational cultural craft With regard to traditional pearl inlay design Never found in today's modern mass produced wares. This is one of the extremely fine design examples of the Master artist's fine touch to extreme detail. Extremely light weight overall. Most likely highly sought after Rosewood Which was the Korean artisan's preferred choice for furniture creation during the mid 20th century. I would like to point out that there are a few very minor blemishes that do not detract from the overall quality and presence of this marvelous piece. There is a light scratch between the two flowers noted in the picture. The lacquer on the bottom of the edge where the folding bar rubs on support side is worn from the tightness of the space. There does not seem to be any way to avoid this rubbing when locking the legs into a downward and stable position. There is a small nick on the table top also presented in the photos. Very small scuff on edge. Lacquer has slight scratches that are nearly normal for this type of Artistic design craftsmanship. No touch-up has been attempted to affect the true workmanship that is presented by this great artistic handmade piece of furniture These are noted in the photos that are attached with the item for your viewing. I must note that no effort has been taken to minimize nor eliminate any of the blemishes as that may cause additional issues when performed by someone who is not a professional in the restorative field. Overall this piece needs no restorative attention except that sought by a "Magnifying Loop" perfectionist. As with any piece of Artistic furniture, "No Two Pieces Are Ever Alike". Lover's of cultural art made by craftsmen who created with pride for the perseverance of centuries old handed down cultural tradition. Craftsmen who labored manually with tools and not computer created images. Stand back and marvel the Artisans' creative heart and soul come to life in front of your eyes and in your mind!
