Description: This absolutely adorable porcelain trinket/powder box was made by KPM Germany and hand decorated and sold at Delvaux of Paris, France c. 1870-1945. Done beautifully in an 18th century countryside scene with florals decorated on the sides of the top and bottom. Inside however is where the magic really is! The inscription reads “La façon de donner vaut souvent mieux que ce qu'on donne”. (The way you give is often better than what you give). Which is a quote by Pierre Corneille (1606-1684), who was a French tragedian. He is generally considered one of the three great seventeenth-century French dramatists, along with Molière and Racine. This wonderful box is in excellent condition and measures approximately 3 1/2” diameter, 1 1/2” tall
