Description: Dimensional modernist sterling-silver brooch by Charles Krypell. The brooch has an abstract wings design, like an modernist bird in flight, or art deco version of pilot’s wings--or maybe a series of mountain peaks. It’s approximately 2 ½-inches long, nearly ¾-inches tall, and weighs approximately 12.4 -grams. The back of the brooch features a locking clasp and is signed “Krypell Sterling” with a copyright symbol. The brooch is in excellent vintage condition with very little visible wear and a well-functioning clasp. CHARLES KRYPELL: Designer Charles Krypell is a native New Yorker who attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn during the 1970s. He began his career as a traditional three-dimensional sculptor, working with and apprenticing to master carver and sculptor, Toshio Odate. Many of Krypell’s sculptural works are displayed worldwide. The Charles Krypell Company was founded in 1976 when Krypell began to transform his sculptures into sterling silver, and his first jewelry collection was born. The production of complete collections of sterling silver jewelry followed, and by the 1990s he was focused entirely on the design and marketing his jewelry line, which is now in its 4th decade.
