Description: FROM THE FILES OF THE FORREST J ACKERMAN AGENCY. For a time in the 1940s, Forrest Ackerman was L. Ron Hubbard's agent and apparently had excerpts of Hubbard's published stories from 1930s pulp magazines. These old photocopies appear to have been made in the 1960s or the early 1970s when photocopy machines were rather primitive. I've had these old file copies for some time as I (and many other people) acquired a lot of miscellaneous items when Forry had his open house sale in September 2002. It lasted two days and I was there both days. Only people who were there can describe just how wild it was when so much material was being sold at fire sale prices because Forry was going to sell his house and he had to move a lot out rather than put a hundred boxes of material in storage due to the much smaller home he was moving to. Not that Forry was happy about this. He described the event that day as "75 years of my life down the drain" and complained that things worth 50 dollars were being sold for 50 cents. But we bought all that we could carry and I'm still coming across things I bought that day which were packed away to be more carefully examined later. Some of these photocopies are doubles of some I sold a few years ago but some others weren't offered by me at the time. It most cases these are the complete stories, but I will indicate when any have missing pages. They are all on 8 1/2 x 14 sheets so that two pages of the pulp could be copied at the same time. Even after Forry was no longer Hubbard's agent for new material, Hubbard allowed him (at least for a time) to remarket his old stories, which is what these old file photocopies were apparently for. And since Forry literally never threw anything away, they were saved. ARCTIC WINGS (incomplete, missing end of story) copied from the June 1938 issue of FIVE NOVELS MONTHLY. Two 8 1/2 x 14 pages.
